Robotics
Sponsors: Mrs. Scott, Mrs. Branock and Mrs. Moore
Club Information
Students are placed on teams and then work together to research, construct, and drive a robot based on the national VEXIQ challenge (game) of the year. Students practice after school once per week and then compete in a regional event located at Mississinewa High School. There is a possibility of state level competition or other local events.
Eligibility
The Robotics program is open to third through fifth grade students who submit an application. A committee of teachers and/or administrators review the applications and select students based upon their demonstrated work ethic, leadership potential, and strengths in the area of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. In addition to the co-ed teams, there is also the possibility of hosting an all-girl team through the “Girl Powered Grant” by VEX Robotics.
Expectations
Students who participate in the Robotics program must be able to commit to after-school practices and multiple competitive events. They should demonstrate leadership among their classmates and possess a desire to learn and face a challenge.
